Day 26 Rabanal del Camino to Molinaseca

Sunday 2nd June 2013

24.5 km - 6 hrs

This was yet another day when I started out at 6-30 a.m., this time for the mountain stage over the Montes de León to Molinaseca. I had stocked up with drinks and food the night before in Rabanal, as per the advice given by John Brierley, but in actual fact there were places along the way that you can buy food/drink at, so I was rather overstocked and overweight!

Approaching Foncebadon, 1,440 m.

Some of our group had continued to Foncebadon the night before, but whereas Rabanal is a nice, quite trendy place with good restaurants, Foncebadon is a bit of a hill billy place with buildings with corrugated iron roofs etc. Everyone to their own choice.

but I decided to push on to Molinaseca.

Accommodation Notes

As I crossed the medieval bridge I saw a sign for "El Horno" and I remembered seeing it advertised somewhere as offering single rooms. I went to investigate and was offered the attic room for 40 euro. I say "room", it was more like a small self-contained flat. I did not get as far as checking out the two albergues, which are situated at the other end of the town, but I understand that they are both modern and good.
